Grade 1 - Miss Cassano

Ms. Alicia Cassano

1. What do you teach at St. Mary’s Academy?

“I currently teach first grade.”

2. What do you love about St. Mary’s Academy?

“I love many things about St. Mary’s Academy.  I love that the classes are small and inviting.  It allows me to make a positive connection with each student.  I love the parental support and school community.  I also enjoy working with an amazing faculty and staff.”

3.Why do you like teaching at St. Mary’s Academy? What motivated you to become a teacher at St. Mary’s Academy?

“There are many reasons why I like teaching at St. Mary’s Academy.  First, we have a wonderful faculty.  Everyone is kind, caring, and welcoming. It’s great to have a team of teachers that are willing to help each other and the students in any way.  Secondly, the students and their families are very thoughtful and caring.   The school community is amazing.”

“When I was in college, I had the opportunity to student teach at St. Mary’s Academy.  As soon as I was introduced to the school, I couldn’t wait to go back.   I started as a teacher assistant for the Pre-K program.  The following year I taught Second Grade. Now I teach First Grade, which is one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had as a teacher.”

4. What is a unique experience, talent, or interest that you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?

“A great classroom community is very important to me.  I want every student to feel welcomed and loved.  Each student should feel important and special.  I believe in all my students and encourage them to reach their full potential.  A classroom should be a safe and comfortable environment where students can focus on learning.”

5. What sets St. Mary’s Academy students apart from students in other schools?

“The students I have worked with at St. Mary’s Academy have been some of the kindest, compassionate, well mannered, and ambitious children I have ever met.”

6.What do you want your students to gain from having known you?

“I hope that my students see that learning can be fun!  I would like my students to remember me as someone who is kind, caring, and passionate about education.”

7. Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself? Perhaps a fun fact?

“My students quickly find out that my favorite subject to teach is math, my favorite color is purple, and I love cats!”
